My Bucket Runneth Over

GBE2 Week #28 prompt - Bucket List

This weeks topic is one I find very interesting.   I consider myself a bona fide list maker - grocery lists, shopping lists, Christmas lists,  where to go, when to go, what to take, what to do, people, etc., etc....you get the picture.   But even though I am constantly making lists, it never really occurred to me to make a bucket list.   I've heard the term and knew what it meant, but I just never felt compelled to sit down and actually think about it.  Maybe I didn't want to think about it.

Making a bucket list requires that we think about our own mortality; not an easy thing to do, but at the same time, not a bad thing either.  On the other hand, maybe I just never felt the need because my life is so full there is not really that much I could list.  I'd like to think that is the case.

In all honesty, I'm not sure I could come up with 100 or 101 things, whatever the correct number for an official bucket list - but I will have to admit there are a few things I would love to accomplish in my lifetime.  It might be fun to see them in writing, so, here goes.

1.  I don't even have to think about my first one.  It has been a lifelong dream, secret desire, wishful thinking,   or whatever description you want to put on it.   It would have to be to write a book and have it published.

2.  Take a cruise.  This one I am actually going to be able to cross off in January.  My friends and I are going  on a Caribbean cruise and I am so excited.  I've always wanted to go on one.

3.  See my grandchildren grow up and have families of their own.

4.  See my husband get to retire and live life for a change.  He has been a dairy farmer all his life and works himself to death.  He doesn't know how to relax and enjoy life.

5.  Make a difference in someone's life.

6.  Get out of debt.

7.  Make it to "old" age without arthritis completely deteriorating my back and feet to the point that I end up in a wheelchair.

8.  Organize all my photos.

9.  Read all the books I have that I haven't read yet.

10.  Meet Jon Bon Jovi and see Bon Jovi in concert.

11.  Figure out how to put pictures on the side of my blog page that stay there.  I would love to show the Versatile Blogger Award and the One Lovely Blog Award that were given to me by wonderful blogger  friends but I can't figure out how to get them on there.  UGH!!

12.  Since I am dreaming, I will add how wonderful it would be to get to meet some of my new blogging      friends someday.  I am so in awe of some of you - your accomplishments and your writing skills.  I am so honored and also humbled that you allow me to be in your circle of bloggers.

Okay, whether any of this qualifies as a bucket list or not is questionable.  Such as it is, it was fun to think about things that I haven't done, want to do, or just wish I could do.  Some for fun and some are deep desires of  my heart.  Either way, this is probably the closest I will ever get to writing a bucket list.

Until next time...that's my view.

to add the photos... right click them with your mouse... save the photo... then go to DESIGN of your blog... decide where you want to post the picture...(click edit in that section), find the widget - add a picture - click on it... it will ask you to browse... find saved photo... wa-la... it should show up....

    good luck.

  2. Oh, you've got some great stuff on your list! I hope you get every little (and big!) thing your heart desires.

danneromero already took care of the adding a picture instructions, but I'd like to add one thing. You can make your pictures links, too, so if someone clicks on it, it will take them to a site that you choose.

For instance, if you were to post the GBE pic over in your right column, you'd do just as danneromero has said, but in addition to browsing your computer for the pic (which is available to save from my blog and on the GBE's Facebook page) you enter the URL to the GBE's main Facebook page (http://www.facebook.com/groups/209032889129479/) in the box in the same gadget.

Gee, was that too obvious a hint? ;O)

  3. Well,I see you managed the pictures, just perfectly! Good job on that. Also, great job on the list. A bucket list is something most people either have always had or have never even thought about! That's what I think anyway. I always have a list of things to do now and another long term list of goals (bucket list?).
I am so glad you landed here, I enjoy your writing and am enjoying getting to know you. :)

  6. Yes Joyce, it is tough. If I ever wrote anything worth publishing I wouldn't have a clue as to how to start to get it published.

  8. I like your bucket list. I don't think it has to have 100 things on it, or be filled with crazy and adventurous things.. as long as they are things that you want and that are important to you - it's a great list! :)

  9. Great post KAT. It's really the simple things that mean the most isn't it?

  10. Thanks Suzy, I'm not sure I'll achieve all of them, but hopefully, at least the important ones.
Thanks Maren, I agree with you.

  12. I think No.5 can also come off as it seems to me you have already achieved that in great measure.

Love the new look by the way.

10 years ago my bucket list had the really big stuff - like travel the world, by a holiday house etc.

But now, 10 years later, my list is very different. Some might call it pathetic but it is full of simplicity and small rewards; achievable things for someone with reduced mobility and not a lot of money.

Funny thing is that I feel more fulfilled now having relinquised the pipe dreams than I did 10 years when they were all possible.

Although... Bon Jovi could turn my head....

  14. Taylor - Thanks for visiting. I also look forward to reading more of your writing.
Marlia - Thanks for your kind words. Like you, my list would have been much different 10 years ago. It funny how our ideas change with age and wisdom. As we get older we realize what is really important...although, I may never give up by dream of meeting Jon Bon Jovi! :D
Susie - It is always a pleasure. I would be interested to read your bucket list. :D
