This month's GenFab bloghop topic asks us to reveal our celebrity crush. For anyone who knows me very well, mine is no surprise. But for those who don't know me as well, it often comes as a shock. I guess they just don't see me as the groupie type.
When I was young, I had the usual celebrity crushes for the time period, Paul McCartney, Peter Noon, Robert Redford, and a long list of others. Then, I grew up, got married and left my teenage celebrity crushes behind me. That is, until 1984, when amidst the onslaught of hair bands emerged this little band called Bon Jovi. Even with his wild hair and tight clothes, there was something special about Jon Bon Jovi. When their second album came out and I heard, Living on a Prayer, I knew he was the only celebrity worthy of my undying devotion.
Over the years, both he and his music have only gotten better. Like a fine wine, he has aged deliciously, even better looking than he was back then. And if you have ever watched, and listened to him cradle that microphone when he is singing a love song with that raspy, sexy voice....well, ah.....you get the picture.
Okay, so a little harmless fantasy never hurt anyone. Actually, my husband knows all about my crush and for some reason doesn't feel the least bit threatened. Go figure. I guess there isn't much threat since I've never even gotten to see him live in concert and don't see much chance of meeting him in this lifetime. Thank heavens for videos!
Okay, I've admitted my celebrity crush; who's yours?
Until next time...that's my view
Kat
He's hot, no doubt. It's nice of your husband to not get in the way of true love :)
ReplyDeleteYes, Kenneth really is a good husband that way! LOL!
DeleteHe is Hawt! His music has indeed gotten better with maturity and as a wealthy New Jersey resident, he continues to GIVE seemingly endlessly.
ReplyDeleteGreat choice and good for Kenneth! Like he had a choice. HA.
I know, Jo. He really does give a lot back to his community. I intended to mention that in my post but it was late last night when I finished it and I just totally forgot. Thanks for reading!
DeleteHe's a great crush! Don't blame you a bit! Love that he is still with his high school sweetheart.
ReplyDeleteThat is always sweet to hear. Faithfulness and generosity are very crushable traits.
DeleteYes, I admire him a lot both because he is so generous and gives back so much to his community and because he is still with his wife after all these years.
DeleteBon Jovi is my celebrity crush too and yes, my husband knows because I've recently dragged him to 2 of his concerts. I completely agree with you -- he looks better now and his music too has grown better along with him. My son makes fun of me and calls Bon Jovi my "boyfriend." Great post! (I didn't link-up with this blog hop, but knew I had to comment on your post!)
ReplyDeleteThank you so much. I'm glad to share him with you! I would love to see him in concert but haven't had the chance.
DeleteThe man never ages and gets prettier every year. Excellent celebrity choice!
ReplyDeleteThanks Donna. Yes, it is so unfair how well men age, isn't it?
DeleteThat is one good looking man. I totally understand your crush and I'm glad your husband does too!
ReplyDeleteYeah, he's not too worried about it. Thanks!
DeleteI must admit - He is a cutie! (Still a cutie...)
ReplyDeleteYes, he definitely is!
DeleteYouTube has been terrific for indulging in celebrity crushes. Definitely a good choice!
ReplyDeleteYes, YouTube is very helpful. Thanks!
DeleteLove Bon Jovi. And that hair!
ReplyDeleteI know! Great isn't it!
DeleteGood choice! So hard to believe the man is 50. I think his appeal spans several generations... I'll never forget the day I walked into the office of a 75-year-old volunteer at the nonprofit I managed. She was prim, proper, silver-haired -- and listening to Bon Jovi through her computer's CD player!
ReplyDeleteThank you! I think you are right. Bon Jovi does span several generations. Any age can have good taste in music!
DeleteA few years ago I was very keen on watching Apolo Ono on Dancing with the Stars, so much so that my husband even complained that I was inattentive to him. Now that I'm rounding 50, I have to admit that I'm finding most stars too young for my attentions. I have had several friends show interest in Bon Jovi, but I was listening to retro music when he was on the Top 40 charts. Looks like I missed out.
ReplyDeleteI've never really taken celebrity crushes too seriously, but I have to admit that I have admired Jon Bon Jovi for a long time. BTW, I watched Apollo Ono that year too.
DeleteLivin' on a Prayer was the first TAPE I ever bought (the distinction of first round-black-record purchased goes to Thriller). Jon is mine. He told me so. Right after Donny Osmond went to get me a drink (he of course ordered water).
ReplyDeletePromise not to upset my little alternate universe, 'kay, Kat? Makes me happy.
I would never dream of upsetting you, Marianne! How about we share him? hehehe
DeleteHe is sexy after all these years! And his devotion to his wife makes him even sexier in my estimation.
ReplyDeleteYes, you are so right, Helene. Between that and his charity work he is one exception to the rule when it comes to celebrities.
DeleteJust a beautiful man...sigh...
ReplyDeleteYes he is!
DeleteI could watch Bon Jovi's live performance of Hallelujah over and over again (like I'm doing right now). It lifts me up in so many ways. Love your choice and thank you, delicious is right on.

I agree. I love hearing him sing Hallelujah! Thanks for your comments.
DeleteKat, love the man AND what he stands for. Great choice! I agree with Yvonne, his rendition of Hallelujah is one song I NEVER tire of. Three years ago I was sitting in a private jet hanger waiting for a flight and guess who blew in? Yup. He and his guys sat in the VIP hanger and we all shot the breeze over wine and brownies. Awesome!
ReplyDeleteWow! I am so jealous. That must have been a great surprise.
DeleteOh, he's still a cutie. Still looks like a kid! As a New Jerseyan I admire how hard he work on the relief efforts for Hurricane Sandy. I watched as he toured his hometown and was moved by the devastation of the boardwalks and homes. He is a true star in every sense of the word. Great choice!
ReplyDeleteThank you. Yes, He really is a rockstar in so many ways. I admire how he gives back to his community.
ReplyDeleteWell believe it or not I am crazy over Bon Jovi and I flew all the way from Sri Lanka middle of winter to DC to watch him in concert. Dragged my husband and son to the US to see him perform.
ReplyDeleteNow I also love the group FUN. Different from Bon Jovi but excellent group.
